Spiritual materialism is the practice or mindset of applying concepts native to materialism and consumerism to one's spiritual practice. Futhermore, it is adopting a stance that physical goods and tangible things, spiritual accessories if you will, are what is actually doing the healing.
This can manifest as believing certain goods, services, and accessories are necessary for your spiritual advancement or evolution. The trouble begins when one is focusing on these possessions or purchases as the solutions themselves or salves to individual spiritual development which needs to occur through authentic work. Rather than investing time and energy into intention setting and inner work, the spiritual materialist feels that the purchase or integration into one's life IS the healing.
This belief arises because the believer hasn't healed their externalization views and matrix mentality about materialism. What I mean by that, is that if you believe the conditioning (as many do) that in order to integrate something into your being you must purchase an externally visible and tangible thing to symbolize that trait in yourself to others, then you will generally stop at spiritual materialism or buying spiritual goods and stopping short of the deeper inner work and self understanding. It is key to understand that spiritual items aren't the problem. The belief that the healing and balance resides outside of yourself, is the problem. The concept that the energy you need is outside of yourself, is the problem. The truth of the matter is that all spiritual goods and products be it crystals, jewelry, candles, oils, etc. are there to simplify magnify the intention that is within you. You are the salve, you are the cure, YOU are the healer. It all resides within you and your endless array of possibilities regarding what you choose. This is the fundamental portion of energetics that so many people get wrong.
Getting this portion of energetics wrong is why so many people continue to look on the outside for solutions to their imbalances and blocks. They require some other individual, item, or learning work to "give" them or replace in them the energy that they feel they need. In actuality, it was always their intent by interacting with the item, person, or learning work that actually shifted their energy and thought life and lead to change. This same thinking is what leads so many people to spend a great deal of money on coaching or spiritual guidance and healing to "bring them to the next level".
When I started writing Inner Glow Up and creating the course materials, I wanted to focus simply on getting others to be a clear channel in the same way that I made myself a clear channel to get in touch with my own intuition and higher guidance. Serving as an energetic cleanse and vibration raising system, the point of this curriculum and content is to get you to a place where you can truly take in and understand the content created by other leading spiritual life coaches like Amanda Frances, Gabby Bernstein, and Cara Alwill Leyba. I wanted to take the experience I had just gone through to raise my vibration to tap into intuitive guidance and divinely guided next steps and put it into a step by step method that others can follow along with and dive as deep as they want or need to go to overhaul their vibration.
The key thing to remember is that it is all in you, you don't need anything but the knowledge and methods to get your vibration higher and purge out negative energy. When that happens the blocks and imbalances will come up for processing and you can tackle each one with self compassion and inner awareness. Don't get wrapped up in spiritual materialism, because it will lead you down a path of buying the next effort free solution and we all know that is a gimmick. The best piece of knowledge I can leave you with is the understanding that it isn't about raising your vibration FAST and getting to the "next level" as fast as you can. Life and the human experience is about what you learn about yourself in the process. You're in a state of becoming, and you can't rush it, because you'll want to experience every piece of self discovery and sit with yourself and learn who you truly are. It will then be your biggest asset - because in order to do what only YOU are meant to to.....you have to know who you are.
In a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians in Season 17, Kim Kardashian goes about planning the ad campaign for her Skims line - which at the time was a scandal because she opted to call the line "Kimono". That stumble aside, Kim and her creative team come up with the idea to create an infomercial style social media commercial. At the meeting, Kim makes reference to an infomercial and product that her Mom backed. That's right, Kris Jenner long before she was the "Momager" she was an infomercial personality and walked viewers through an interview with the founder of a product called Wicks of Wisdom.
Many people wonder how did the Kardashian Jenner empire got started and how it grew to such well, KARDASHIAN proportions (pun fully intended and self applauded). I have always had a sneaking suspicion that the Kardashian Jenner matriarch was a firm believer in the power of manifestation - just based on how she talks about work, opportunities, visualization, etc. I was intrigued further to learn that the Wicks of Wisdom product was a line of imbued, or energetically intended candles which helped people call in the energetic match to their particular want, need, or desire. Plus, here was Kris Jenner helping to promote and speak about the candles and their properties - and she seemed so at home talking about manifestation, energetics, and the power of universal co-creation.
Of course, I'm a firm believer in the power of manifestation - and I'm completely unapologetic about it. A simple explanation for the candles, should you entertain it (should you not, that's fine too because your belief is your belief), is that the candles operate with the purchaser's intentions. If you believe in and understand the laws of physics regarding vibration...the person purchasing the candle will attach to the belief that the candle has corrected whatever energetic imbalance exists in their lives that is blocking them from their blessing. That belief alone, gets rid of the energetic blocks that are preventing them from manifesting through their own power of co-creation, what it is that they want.
Kris Jenner HAS built an entire multi-armed empire out of her family's interests, antics, and media personalities - so perhaps she knows a thing or two about visualizing an outcome and then taking small incremental actions to make it a reality. I can't find any concrete interviews where she references her belief in candle magic, or anything of the like...but it's pretty compelling that with her entrepreneurial mind she chose to endorse this product in any way and work with a known psychic to sell them. Of course the infomercial is more than a little dated and has the slightly cringe tag line "A prescription for your soul." All things creative direction aside, it's a pretty interesting insight into the early Spirituality brings abundance belief system of the Kardashian Jenner clan.
The cultures of the West are waking up and taking notice of the concept of leveraging Astrology to improve ones life. The general consensus is that the Western World is more materialistic and more rooted in the tangible than those who live in the Eastern World. People in the most advanced economies (notice I didn't say civilizations, but rather economies) put more emphasis and importance on the tangible in life, than putting stock in the intangible things. Eastern civilizations like India, China, and Japan for instance, give more important to the intangible things in life such as love, affection, and emotional fulfillment. The distinction is clearly evident in the differences in lifestyles we see across the Eastern and Western people. For example, the average Indian person when polled, could not imagine a life without at least the concept of God. In Western civilizations, there are a higher number of people whom identify as Atheists or Agnostic.
The Western philosophical mind has always had an inquisitive nature, and tends to believe only in exact Science. The provable and the observable is what the average person hangs their hat on at the end of the day in Western cultures. For these people, a theorem is not acceptable unless it can be proven by scientific experiments. For many people in the East, and those that align with the Eastern philosophical thought; there is a point where "science" has to give way as it is ultimately a body of work based on the observational skills of man - and God has to take over. The world over, and for time immemorial there have been things that have no scientific explanations available.
Therefore, issues on divine intervention cannot be ruled out. On the other hand, the eastern philosophy relies too much on the esoteric phenomena. This creates a clash with the western phenomenon. There has to be a combination of the eastern and western philosophies so that a proper balance is maintained. The good news is that we are at a time when Eastern world is beginning to accept the western philosophy and vice versa. Eastern world is trying to have a more materialistic viewpoint on life and the western world is beginning to open up to the possibility of using once esoteric phenomena such as Yoga and Meditation.
Given the many accounts of people the world over, the concept of divine intervention and inexplicable phenomenon cannot be completely ruled out. On the other hand, Eastern philosophy (arguably to its detriment) relies too much on esoteric phenomenon say some critics and skeptics alike. This puts the two schools of thought as diametrically opposed; and a more balanced approach would be to look at things from a balanced and blended perspective of both Eastern and Western thought. The good news in this respect is that the Eastern world is beginning to accept the Western philosophy and vice versa. The Eastern world in this case, is trying to experiment with a more materialistic point of view and the Western world in the mainstream sense is beginning to open up to the possibilities of yoga practice and transcendental meditation. It's important to note that both conscious movement and breathing (like the practice of yoga) and the concept of trances and meditative states aren't native or only practiced in Eastern spiritual practice, many indigenous Western cultures in both the Americas and Europe have practiced both for eons. I just mean to say that a blending of what is inherently Eastern and what is inherently Western is taking root in both cultures.
In the last 20 years, there has been a zeitgeist of Astrological interest from the Western world. A concept which isn't uniquely Eastern, as Astrology has been practiced by the Greek and Roman civilizations in times of yore, but rather are being used in the more Eastern application which is to guide key events like marriage and relationships. The ancient Western cultures did use Astrology to govern the business and fortune based dealings of individuals, but the concept of using Astrological charts to observe romantic compatibility, ideal home look and feel, as well as ways to mitigate the unfortunate aspects of one's astral chart. Concepts which are more rooted in the concepts and values of the Eastern world; as we mentioned - emotional basis, relationships, affection, and emotional satisfaction. It would seem that the act of embracing Astrology for both business and fortune based guidance, as well as how to govern one's romantic world, personal emotional satisfaction, and one's home based surroundings is a key blending of East and West.
Do you ever feel slightly uncomfortable in crowded places? Have you ever experienced a moment where you feel, inexplicably at times, that your personal space is being invaded? Do you have the notion that people can only come so close to you without you experiencing some type of visceral discomfort? What you are experiencing in those times, is a reaction triggered by your aura. In this case, someone's aura is possibly intruding upon yours.
There may also be times when you feel distinctly uneasy in the presence of a particular person. When you enter a room, you may have a vague but distinct sense that something is wrong. It's key to remember that the human aura isn't just a woo woo concept that "love and light people" embrace or some abstract concept that is up for debate.
The human aura is a strong electro-magnetic field, as we give off electrical energy and absorb magnetic energy. In my discussions with folks, they tend to be reticent to embrace a notion that is wholly spiritual or etheric - they want to only embrace notions with "proof" and they describe that proof as something that can be picked up by their physical senses. People are often also unable to accept that people may have different senses than they do, and are therefore capable of picking up and observing the world in a way that is different than themselves.
As an exercise, you can feel this energy force in a room full of people. Each of varying energies, positive and negative are both being intercharged. Our auras are a band of energy that surrounds each of us, a life energy that can be sensed and picked up on around every living thing - be it a plant, animal, or person. Generally speaking, there are seven layers of the aura, and the most accessible to the human perception are the first three layers that surround the human body.
For human perception, auras can be seen with the eyes wide open. For those who are in tune psychically, they can be seen with the eyes closed. Auras can be best seen under a soft light, and you can view your own aura by looking at a mirror against a light colored background with dimmed lighting. The important thing to do in this case is look beyond the object and do not focus directly at it. Auras are observed most prominently in a general sense around the head, neck, and shoulders as well as the hands. For those who can tune in and see the aura, they are mostly observing the mental and etheric layers or planes - for these are the most colorful and vibrant layers of the aura.
The physical aura is the closest to the body. This band of the aura represents the body's physical growth, strengths, weakness, physicality, and physical sensations both good and bad. This particular band is very strong in athletes, and people who are in touch with themselves and enjoy life's physical pleasures like food, comfort, sex, etc.
Mental and Emotional Aura
Moving away from the body is the second layer. This reflects the person’s emotional moods and mental feelings, about how one feels about oneself.Any block in this area slows down the flow of energy. This part of the aura is changeable and fluctuates through the day, depending on the mental and emotional stimulations one feels.
The spiritual aspect of the aura reflects the energy of the spirit and its spiritual ascension. The colors of this particular level are more distant and any mental sluggishness that the individual may be experiencing shows in this area. More importantly, negative thoughts accumulated over time show in this area - and it is believed that yellow is the dominant color in this area of the aura.
Reading the Aura
The physical and spiritual levels can be read in isolation or can be read in conjunction with each other. The colors herein are not physically delineated by a line or space between them. These two would appear to fuse and change or merge into each other. One color here may be more apparent than others, and as one develops the ability to read auras, the possibility to derive information can be increased across the different levels.
It is key to note that there is no heirarchy or levels of achievement involving colors and their placement within the auric field, or aura. These colors are only indicators to a person's current state of being, and can be read to strengthen the positive aspects of one's go of life and help alleviate or correct problems or issues such as setbacks or energetic stagnancy (the source of all setbacks). Dissolving and working through these blocks and problems helps us to balance our energies.
When you're reading an aura, do not hold back or try to stop yourself from sensing the colors. Identifying and connecting with the colors is merely the beginning of an aura reading. Describing what you see not only defines what you see, it also helps enhance and tap into the flow of intuition and helps with an insightful reading.
There could be one dominant color, or a variety or cross section of colors therein. These colors and hues may grow stronger or more vivid and brighter as the reading goes on. You should rely on your ability to interpret and lean into your intuitive discovery faculties. This will help you keep a clear mind and plugged into observation of the colors.
In the event that people are comfortable with each other, their auras will tend to complement each other in an attractive and complementary manner. If you are reading for a couple, this is very important to remember.
Astrology is best summarized as the study of the positions and movements of the celestial bodies, in the belief that these bodies do have an influence on the course of natural and serendipitous occurrences on Earth - and human affairs. Astrology based predictions can be used effectively, according to experts, to predict and especially to navigate many aspects of our lives such as business, romance, money, jobs, etc. It can also be used to understand key and supportive energy to enhance the success of the individual. The precise impacts of the planetary motions on our day to day lives - can't and shouldn't be entirely ruled out, especially since millions and millions of people successfully use Astrology to navigate their lives every day.
For many human beings the world over, marriage is viewed and upheld as a sacred institution. Marriage equates to the union of two hearts, minds, bodies, and of course souls. It's often said in many cultures that "marriages are made in heaven". Which depending on how you view and uphold Astrology and its various far reaching impacts on the affairs, coincidences, and serendipitous occasions that people share - it could be said that Astrology is the hand of heaven which helps to guide marriages into fruition. Many people use the assistance of Astrological predictions, to better understand the compatibility of the couple - and ascertain or make certain a healthy and growth centric match is assured. In many societies in the world, horoscopes are looked at and matched before a marriage can take place.
There are a few key areas to look for romantic matching and synergy within the horoscope. Once the match between key parts of the horoscope, especially the Sun and Moon signs, Venus and Mars signs, and North Node and placements of the 5th and 7th house are assured...it is also quite common in many parts of the world to consult Astrologers to determine the most ideal and auspicious date and time for the marriage ceremony. As the horoscopes of the prospective bride and groom tell a great deal about each person's past, present, and future. The matching of horoscopes can also guide the astrologer on the dates which are best to be avoided. There are many periods which the influence of planets which are in a malefic (or negative) energy pattern is quite strong, and Astrologers would seek to avoid that. The marriages which are unionized during these malefic energetic periods may not last for very long, or may be shaky, underwhelming, or wrought with bad fortune. Both the bride's and groom's horoscopes must be analyzed for how they play off of each other.
The first step to this assessment is looking at the date of birth, time of birth, as well as place of birth, for both the parties to be wed. There are a number of calculations performed to look at the angling of the planets to each other; and these angles can be called trines, squares, conjunctions, etc. It is believed that the planets and their positions leave an energetic imprint on each of us when we are born, and in the case of matrimonial astrology it is reviewed how the energy imprints on each will interact and help the parties to learn lessons in life and evolve as souls. It is important to note that it is not necessary that the horoscopes be entirely compatible end to end. Some interactions which may be viewed as challenging or troubling, can actually be helpful for the couple in order to challenge them in a healthy way to grow. Additionally, certain corrective measures such as energetic healing, chakra balancing, and feng shui type measures in the home can help to correct energetic imbalances and ensure a smooth flow to the marriage ahead by enhancing energetic compatibility.
It has been observed time and time again that there are higher success rates of happy marriage in cases where the horoscopes were matched. Critics often have a differing opinion regarding the validity of this claim and the success rate of marriages. As the claims cannot wholly be disproved regarding the validity of astrology compatibility in order to select and provide for the most auspicious marriages - the notion that it isn't scientific but rather philosophical still has no bearing and doesn't take credit away from the practice of horoscope matching that is prevalent the world over.
My best friend recently returned from a trip to Bangkok, Thailand and Calcutta, India with too many tales to recount here. However, one tale I want to recount is the wonderful spiritual wellness treatment she put me on to called “shirodhara”. She described a charming scene in her luxury hotel spa suite where a guest can luxuriate around from station to station in the suite, experiencing a number of incredible spa treatments ranging from purely indulgent to purely spiritual and everywhere in between. I was most intrigued by the treatment of shirodhara because it sounded deliciously indulgent, and mind clarifying all at the same time. For someone like me, who is both always looking to unwind and always looking to gain an edge in business and in life - this seemed intriguing indeed.
The name comes from the Sanskrit words “shiro” which means “head” and “dhara” which means “flow”. The name makes perfect sense given that shirodhara is a spiritual tuneup for the third eye; often regarded as the very seat of human consciousness. Shirodhara is the method of third eye massage, through either pouring drips of water, milk, or buttermilk... or by pouring drips of oil onto a laying patients third eye - located in the pineal gland within the forehead. The rhythmic nature of the drips - if administered by a particularly in tune practitioner or by a times device can be synced with the natural rhythm and wavelength that the third eye vibrates at. In addition to the rhythm, the central focus on the third eye helps the individual receiving the treatment to focus on their third eye which helps to strengthen it. This treatment can be offered alone, or can be part of a specific panchakarma treatment detoxification regimen. In Ayurveda it is also common place to select an oil for the treatment which has properties which balance the client's dosha.
According to Ayurveda Next Door's write up, "Stress, according to Ayurveda, is a state of imbalance of prana vayu, sadaka pitta, and tarpaka kapha. Shirodhara reestablishes the functional integrity between these three doshic subtypes and thus helps alleviate stress."
Beyond just the metaphysical tuning this treatment provides, it also helps to regulate function between the hypothalamus, pineal gland, and pituitary glands. Disruptions in these areas of the body can lead to imbalances and afflictions commonly known in the Western world as shift worker sleep disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, insomnia, and simple jet lag. As these disordered sleep or disordered fear response conditions are caused by disregulation of the hypothalamus, pineal gland, or pituitary glands...it stands to reason that oil massage of these areas can help regulate the body into a clock work cycle which provides relief from these conditions.
The massage is highly regarded as one of the most valuable treatments in Ayurveda because it calms the overworked mind. Calming the mind and relaxing the body is absolutely essential in terms of balancing the mind, body, and spirit to maintain their ecosystem and thusly their seamless connection. Although I have never had this treatment, I look forward to experiencing one soon. Here’s to manifesting that into my life!
The careful interpretation of dreams by dream experts may be dated as far back as the advent of dreaming itself. We know that all human beings of every age, and many animals indeed, engage in a cycle of dreams every night. As a result of this humans have always been fascinated to learn what causes dreams and what the symbolism, colors, visuals, auxiliary characters and occurrences mean.
The art and science of the interpretation of dreams dates back at least as far as 3000-4000 B.C. We know this to be true because in ancient times aforementioned, the interpretations of people's professed dreams were captured in a permanent recorded form on clay tablets. It is commonly believed that many primitive people were essentially unable to initially distinguish between the real world and the dream world - and perhaps saw no value in doing so. In many cases, these people looked upon the dream world as an extension of the physical world around them, and in many cases they saw the dream world as more powerful than the waking one. The dream world provided for them extra clues, extra guidance and wisdom that could be used to navigate the physical world. A concept still prevalent in native and indigenous cultures the world over, whose wisdom and experience of the natural and supernatural world has thankfully been untarnished by time or changing lifestyles.
It is thought that dream interpretation was such an important asset to the ancient Greek and Roman world that dream interpreters were given special roles, and often accompanied generals and other notable military leaders into battles. Dreams were taken very very seriously, and the Greeks and Romans (in particular and to a greater degree) often interpreted dreams as messages sent by their gods. Messages of particular importance for the individual to guide their daily affairs and make decisions about their fate.
Dreams also had a religious context in ancient Egypt, and as no surprise priests of the era and region doubled as dream interpreters. Dreams were among the items recorded by the ancient Egyptians in the form of hieroglyphics. Individuals whose dreams were described as distinctly vivid or significant in terms of content or ability to be prophetic were thought to be blessed and were given special elevated status in this ancient and highly spiritual society. In turn, people who were blessed with the ability to interpret dreams were believed to receive these gifts directly from the gods, and in turn they enjoyed a special status in society as well.
Not surprisingly, there are over 700 mentions of dreams in the bible, and people in biblical times regarded dreams as very significant. Dreams and their interpretations are mentioned in many of the most significant books of the bible, and help to provide greater credence to the belief that those whom have prophetic dreams or vivid visions are truly having divinely guided experiences. As a common and prevalent aspect of society then, dreams were often seen as a form of prophecy. People often interpreted their dreams as omens or warnings, and adjusted their activities accordingly based upon the symbology or interactions within the dreams. Dreams were often thought of as distinct good or bad omens from deities, as messages from other types spirits, or as messages and salutations from departed souls. In some cases, dreams were even seen as the work of demons, and the visions within the dreams were meant to confuse and trouble the dreamer. A belief that is still upheld by many the world over, across many different religious and spiritual backgrounds.
Dreams were seen as vitally important because it was believed that they often dictated the actions of political and military leaders, thereby affecting everything from the outcome of a battle to the laying of a political decision. In the bounds of healing, dreams were also thought to provide directional and indicative clues to healers, and they were used in the diagnosis and treatment of many types of illness.
Dreaming was often viewed by indigenous cultures as a way to commune and communicate directly with gods and spirits, and dreams and meditative states as well as visions are still used in this way by cultures all around the world and of diverse spiritual perspectives. Many people believed, and many many people still do, that during our dreaming stage of sleep the soul leaves the body and communes with the spirit world - a realm just outside of but occasionally overlapping with our waking one.
The ancient Chinese people were one such culture that deeply believed that the individual's soul left the body each and every night at the time of dream based sleep. These people believed that if the dreamer were suddenly to be awakened, that the soul may not be able to return to the body very easily. It is for this reason that some traditionally spiritual Chinese people are still leery about the use of alarm clocks even in the modern day. This is but one single example of how ancient legends can make a tremendous impact on current day people and mindsets.
Mexican and Native American societies BOTH share this ancient view of the importance of dreams, and also shared the deeply held belief in a separate and distinct dimension that is visited during the dream cycle portion of our sleep. People believed that their departed ancestors lived on in their dreams, and that they were able to take forms like animals and plants to communicate, guide, and lead. As a result of these beliefs, dreams were seen as a way for the dreamer to commune with their recent and ancient ancestors, and to gather wisdom and knowledge that could best position them and their decision making in their waking lives. Dreams were considered as means in which to gather information about the individual's purpose or individual mission in life.
A deep respect for dreams shifted radically early in the 19th century, and dreams in that era were often dismissed as reactions to anxiety, outside noises, or even bad food (a common question in Western society to be asked of a person describing a nightmare). It was during this period of time that dreams were thought to have no meaning at all, and interest in dream interpretation tapered off in Western society to almost a whisper. This downward trend all changed with the arrival of Sigmund Freud later in the 19th century. Sigmund Freud stunned the world of psychiatry by stressing the importance of dreams, and he revived the once dead art of dream interpretation - introducing an entire generation in the Western world to the notion of paying attention to the messages, visitations, participants, locations, and symbols in their dreams.
Throughout the many years of our lives, each of us accumulates a series of diverse and rich experiences. Our natural inclination is to evaluate and simply reflect on what we have been through and even more importantly what we have learned. This introspective look within into what we can no longer see with our physical eyes or sense with our external senses allows us to hone in on the true inner self, our inner essence. This inner essence is what we seek to tap into and begin listening to based on the methods in "Inner Glow Up".
Numerous schools of thought teach about the concept of self-actualization. Which I have always defined simply as "realizing the actual self". This is our journey in life, the destination isn't to some idealized paradise or conceived of place but rather it is our journey home. It is the journey into the spacial quality of existence that initially brought us into this world. It is the journey of what is leading us through this life and therefore it is the journey back to where it all began. Like a an endless, perfect circle.
Many upon closer reflection could say that the infant and the elderly are more soul than body. As you and I develop our personality and thusly ego, it is then that we begin to think we are somebody. Ram Dass comically refers to this as "somebody training." As we begin to move into the phase of adulthood, we begin to think we are real and act on this "somebody" that we have trained. When we actually do mature, we go into a state that Ram Dass has also comically referred to as "nobody training".
The great paradox of life is that we spend a great deal of time learning to develop independence from infancy only to lose it again as we steadily age and then die. Our lives are a journey from innocence to supreme grace. The human expression is a journey with many ups and downs. What keeps us on track is the authentic call of our own soul, the aspect of self that has the blueprint for what we are to do in this life. The true blueprint and yearnings of the inner soul gives us strength to do the impossible and give us hope when there is none. Locating and discovering this inner guiding light was my individual journey, and to turn about and teach the method of uncovering that never failed me was part of my mission to serve others. That's why I wrote Inner Glow Up, and have begun adapting course materials to serve as a more personal approach to the same teachings.
The journey was not one of sunshine and endless light, as anyone on a spiritual awakening path can attest. All parts of the self, both dark and light, need to be embraced with equal measures of gentle scrutiny and unconditional love. This gentleness and firmness is the something inside us striving for the satisfaction and freedom found in perfecting our true nature and fitting ourselves to our truest purpose.. Our authentic and innermost self knows we are GROWING through life and simply going through life at the same time.
This delicate balance between these two forces of nature and understanding their polarities helps us to never get too caught up in the moment, yet paradoxically keeps us breathing and moving forward living perfectly in the now. This blend of knowing we are ourselves in this life, and yet also a broader larger energetic being who has had countless lives of which this is only one character on one stage and merely one vantage point enables us to stay on our path. Supreme cognizance and at the same time, supreme focus. It is the path best described as knowing who we are through the various experiences and expressions of our life; and the higher self's divine guidance meant only for this immediate and current expression is the one which we seek to understand and connect with through the methods described in Inner Glow Up. In doing this sacred work, we learn to trust in our own soul and find direction there...when direction in life is not present and sorely lacking. I wrote Inner Glow Up to act as an uncovering method to separate and sieve out anything in your energy field, in your life, and in your mindset that should keep you from hearing your true inner guidance.
In this day and age, you may find more people choosing to seek guidance from a psychic than from psychologist, therapist, or even from a priest or clergy member. Often times the advice of the priest is too restrictive and, in some parts of the world, the church's views don't keep up with modern life and modern problems. Psychological therapy or counseling, for some is too expensive and could even feel too all consuming on occasion - with people fearing they are expected to commit to 6-8 sessions on a particular topic. People seem to find the idea of a psychic reading more approachable and often times more helpful.
When you call a psychic helpline or contact a psychic through online booking, you get to talk to a professional psychic that is attentive to your concerns and likely sees their gifts as their purpose for being in this world. The psychic will diligently listen to you and then will ask for a few questions in order to be able to clarify what they are receiving in your psychic reading. While many may call because they just need someone to talk to, one usually calls because they are looking for specific advice which comes through in the psychic reading.
1. A psychic reading can be MORE confidential, as you can contact them via phone lines or through online book services. You never have to meet them, because the energy can be detected via distance - it's energy!
A psychic reading via distance appears to have many benefits. Firstly, as with other forms of counseling, it helps people balance the responsibility of personal decisions from themselves to a “professional” psychic, to someone outside the situation, who may offer a new perspective. Psychics are experts at reading energy and may illuminate aspects of the actions and words of other third parties in your life that may have been previously unknown or unexplored. Psychics, especially those whose gifts come from being empaths, are astute at determining the intent of others and sussing out the truth of any situation.
Another key perk of receiving psychic guidance via distance through a phone line or through a recorded video sent to you at a later time is that this method offers more confidentiality than any other form of counseling: the person at the other end of the line or email will not know who you are and you don’t have to face the psychic you talk to. In addition, leveraging the assistance of a psychic may be cheaper than more traditional forms of counseling. We are in an era where the Western world is beginning to see how astutely a psychic or spiritual adviser can assist you with life's matters.
2. A psychic uses few details to tap into your energy.
A psychic reading will typically start with the question you are interested in most. It's key to remember that the answer to this, and even more information will come through and many psychics like to share all that comes through for you. The personal information you must provide a psychic in order to get a psychic reading is usually related to your date and place of birth, or perhaps even other important dates in your life. Perhaps they will ask for your first name and initials, but typically the info you provide won't be too specific and many gifted people can pick up on your energy through connection and first name alone. The method your reading is delivered through depends on your psychic's preferred tools and methods, and to a lesser degree on whether you are interested in numerology or horoscopes, in Tarot or i-Ching, clairvoyance or dream interpretation as a guest.
3. Every psychic or gifted person uses different methods. Many use multiple methods.
A very popular form of psychic reading is a personal horoscope which can require as little as your date of birth and will provide you with info on key dates and key energetic shifts in your life. A similar form of psychic reading is the numerological chart, working with quite limited information too, and providing you with the main features of your individual fate or destiny. Other forms of psychic reading, for instance Tarot cards, may be done over the phone or via a video that the psychic records after tapping into your energy. Only for the case of aura reading would you perhaps need to be present with a psychic in the same room. Many can do this over video and as someone who can see auras, I would even say that video makes them more pronounced for some reason.
4. Just as there are gifted surgeons, there are quacks. Just as there are excellent financial advisors, there are swindlers. The psychic business is no different.
Although psychic helpline or psychic reading marketplace may be the easiest and most popular way to get a psychic reading, it's key to recall that there have been ample cases when a psychic helpline was proven to be set up to take advantage of people. Just like any profession or vocation, if there is money to be made from it - there will be people who set up fraudulent practices. A true psychic needs very little from you to give you info that you know, but they couldn't possibly have known. Many if not all of the psychics I have ever worked with have said the SAME thing about my personality - and my personality isn't gleanable on first meeting. I'm an Aries Sun, Virgo Rising so my demeanor is calm, detached, subdued, tidy....but my true nature as an Aries and ENTJ personality type is quite willful, a natural born leader, talkative, intense, and unrelenting. Those who are truly reading your energy know to provide you with a level of trust by telling you some things about your inner self that perhaps only YOU know. A fraud will work to get you to start talking to sponge details from you. There is a HUGE difference.
5. Psychics prefer to help you with YOUR development as a soul; and will generally NEVER tell you what you should do.
Before contacting any sort of psychic helpline and requesting your psychic reading, you might find it advisable to search for the answers within yourself and your own intuition. It is much more rewarding to try to develop the intuition and inner knowing for yourself - than to rely on psychics and their gifts. Everyone has a deeper inner knowing for their own situations and highest good - so it's key to tap into that. If you're interested in learning more about how to discover your own inner guidance...I've quite literally written the book on it. You can find details about Inner Glow Up, my first solo book in under "Books" in this website.. Of course, a psychic or spiritual adviser can help you illuminate aspects of the powers and energies at play that may not be known or shown to you - and can help you connect with your spirit guide or spiritual team. However, a truly gifted psychic will be most interested in showing you what may be unseen at the time and encouraging you to make decisions for yourself. A truly gifted psychic respects the balance of free will.
I felt the pull to book an acupuncture session. We all know those pulls, the gentle way a particular thought or encouragement tugs at us at times or comes treading in through the front door of our minds at a half run and invades every moment that we aren't actively focused on something else or away from the world in meditation. The thought that I needed to seek an acupuncturist was THAT intrusive.
In my searches I was lead time and time again to Spirit House Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in Chicago. I would close my browser and then on a whim do another search for acupuncture and be lead right back to the practice. Perhaps it was something about the name, as the symbolism of the Thai or Khmer spirit house has a powerful meaning for me personally. In any case, there could be nowhere else that I booked this healing from.
It was a breath of fresh air connecting with Founder, Director and Chinese Medicine Physician Genna Louise Robinson. We connected instantly - her calm demeanor and wise (beyond her years may I add) eyes were instantly soothing. A welcome feeling, because I was about to have needles pushed just under my skin to prompt my energetic system to release all that didn't serve, in a process that can often be just as draining as it is cathartic and restorative.
Upon hearing about the recent loss of my grandmother, a loss I'm still reeling from and nursing day by day and discussing some digestive issues I felt I had been having - which caused irritating and relentless headaches....Genna had a plan. She also filled me in on the profound notion that perhaps my digestive issues weren't necessarily my commitment to sneaking in dairy despite being lactose intolerant but perhaps were instead caused by the fact that I couldn't swallow the truth and digest the idea and truth that my beloved grandmother was gone from at least this life. The thought alone and the gentle way she offered it up - allowing me to reach my conclusion on what it was that I was having trouble "digesting" in terms of a concept or new notion in life - were soothing and relaxing. It's always a joy to feel for a short moment that your unspoken pains and burdens are understood. It was a thought that hadn't crossed me, but now gave me a renewed hope that I could manage and work on this "digestive issue" that was really more about information and less about my predisposed inability to digest lactose properly.
As we moved into treatment, Genna paused to take my vitals and record them. In that moment we bonded over the notion that perhaps the universe really does bring people together to work on key healing and key turning points together. The air was humming with that golden hour glow of two people in alignment, in tune and vibing on the same notions. I drank it up.
Genna suggested to me that I do what is known as an Aggressive Energy removal acupuncture treatment to purge my major organs of any lingering energy or stagnant blocks that I may be carrying with me. She explained that "not everyone has this treatment" and that "those that do, may only have it once in their lives." Whatever the case, it absolutely felt right and sat well with me. The process involved a number of acupuncture needles inserted in pairs along my spine - each pair corresponding to my organs. The process was relatively pain free, but I would like to note that both that corresponded to my lungs hurt going in and coming out. Funny thing with the lungs, they hold our emotions of grief. A word I've become very intimate with in the last 90 days as I make sense of what comes next, how do I plan life knowing that she won't be there in the flesh.
I dosed off and had a number of strong epiphanies come to me during the process of allowing the energy to flow freely. Many things about my relationship with my partner, that up until that point had been leaves unturned came to me easily then. I quickly connected into that purple space in the inner vision, when your crown chakra is running on all 8 cylinders and traveling upwards like a pulse in your inner mind's eye. I often have that sensation in places of worship, temples, upon first waking up, and in the deeper meditations that I traverse in my own space.
Walking out of the clinic, I felt buzzy and fumbly. I felt like my energy was oozing out of me and going outwards by 2-3 feet in every direction. I felt the distinct calm but dulled senses feeling that comes with energetic work. As I shared on IG, I heard my inner voice say "You have to walk in your body." as I crossed the crosswalk. Suddenly a bit self-conscious I wondered if I was moving properly or if I looked like a strange caterpillar, as it was certainly descriptive of the way I felt.
We planned I would have the treatment across two sessions, and so I returned that Friday to finish up my process. In the in between, which was only one day - a Thursday...I felt a gentle nagging pain in my spine. Genna explained that it was likely because energy had pooled there as we had asked it to be released from those acupuncture points but hadn't finished the job entirely. With a bit more time with the same placements of needles I was back to processing out the remainder of the Aggressive Energy. It was the same zen, delicious feeling of leveling out my energies and really detoxing my organs of excess energy that didn't serve. After completing both processes, I have felt it is easier to stay on task and on track with very healthy eating and water consumption habits. My mental clarity around my routine and priorities has cleared up and most importantly my creative impulses and visions have returned and I feel like I can write, create, and envision all that I wish to accomplish. Something that was severely limited in the moments just after my grandmother passed away. On the physical side of things my headaches have not returned and my digestive issues have cleared up. I felt the day after the first treatment that there was less bloating in my abdomen and that my tummy now was softer and hung between my hip bones like a hammock.
I have so much gratitude for meeting Genna and being able to experience her unique gift for intuitive healing of others through acupuncture. She knew on an unspoken level just what I'd been through, what I was fighting, and helped prompt my body, mind, and spirit to do what it does best.....heal ITSELF.
