Marie KOndo's spiritual wisdom is found in the way she thanks objects and the home for the work they do to support us
Marie kondo is fluent in energy. her gentle aura and sweet disposition make her a breath of fresh air in any home, long before she begins her transformation of them through her konmari method of organizing. the most touching aspect of her work is her practice of thanking the home, and the key possessions with in that equip and help us along in life.
Let me start by saying I absolutely love Marie Kondo, as a human...and as a zeitgeist. She's so immensely likable on an interpersonal level, with her calm positivity. She is a sweet soft hug from a friend personified. Looking beyond just her interpersonal demeanor and warmth, her profound understanding of the energy that surrounds us is so refreshing and eye opening. I find her wisdom to be absolutely astounding even if it is quiet, and applied to something as "normal" and "mundane" as our daily environment and home surroundings. You see this wisdom in the way she thinks about the profound way the energy of a home, and key areas like the bedrooms and closets impact the family that uses them daily.
One of her practices, has struck me as profound and life altering. It may sound strange to you, dear reader, but let me explain... Marie Kondo has a beautiful practice of thanking the home at the start of her discovery period with the family she is helping. Marie takes a quiet moment to sit on the floor of the home and thank the home for the purpose it serves.....she thanks the home for protecting the inhabitants from the elements firstly. Marie then goes on to ask the home to help them in cleaning and organizing it.
It may seem to the casual viewer like an endearing quirk at best, or a strange habit at worst. However, anyone who is familiar with intention setting and broader energetics will see the myriad of benefits this practice has not only on the energy of the home...but also on the mindset and pattern of behavior of the inhabitants. I'll outline these benefits now....and of course if you discover any more....feel free to comment your epiphanies or dawnings. ; )
1. This practice helps shift the inhabitants of the home to begin looking at every day in their home as a gratitude filled experience. Rather than taking their objects, possessions, and home structure for granted...they are now looking at it with new eyes as a gift that allows them to sleep soundly, enjoy their hobbies, and share happy memories in.
2. The practice helps connect the inhabitants to the notion that there is in fact an energetic environment within their home that does in fact respond to their attitudes, intentions, and emotions.
3. The practice helps connect the inhabitants to the home's energy and begin a dialogue that they are now aware of.
4. This practice helps to acknowledge the home's energy as a living and changing web of everyone's collective thoughts, emotions, and sentiments.
I believe that the first item is the most powerful shift of all of these. As people become more filled with gratitude, they start to see every act and every motion in their life as sacred and worthy of gratitude. As we all know, gratitude is the entry fee and currency of abundance. By being more thankful for every aspect of our life and how the objects of your home take care of you, nurture you, protect you and provide for you...you are asking for more providence from the universe and communicating you will appreciate it once that abundance is received.
Marie Kondo is not only helping people organize their possessions...she's also helping them organize their energy. By moving out items that block the flow of positivity, it proves time and time again that improving the energetic pulse in the home...the fights and bickering within the home also stop. People are no longer stressed out and overwhelmed by being fenced in by too many objects set at angles. Instead they live in a harmonious environment of flow and have stations for completing their daily tasks and routines...rather than trying to muddle through a crowded space to make a mad dash at life.
It all starts with a simple prayer, a simple request and a simple act of gratitude...and that is Marie Kondo's sweet way of thanking the home for all that it is and all that it does. There is so much complexity and spiritual sophistication in this simple act. Witness it for yourself in this short video.
